On Wednesday, October 8, we had the pleasure of hosting our second annual Apprentice Welcome and Appreciation Evening!

During this fantastic event, we welcomed our new Apprentice, recognised the great work of our current Apprentices, acknowledged the accomplishments of our upskilled Trainee and Apprentice, and celebrated the graduation of our amazing CMI Hino Melbourne Apprentices.

Check out the video below which features the amazing highlights from the evening.

It was wonderful to see our Derrimut showroom transformed for the evening. Workshop team members from both our Derrimut and Campbellfield sites were invited to attend, along with our Apprentices who were also supported by their loved ones and friends.

What made the night even more special was that we were not only celebrating our Apprentices, we also had the opportunity to acknowledge and thank our Apprentice mentors and leading hands, whose ongoing guidance plays a vital role in helping our apprentices succeed in their trades and work environment.

Upon arrival, guests were welcomed into the showroom and it was great to see everyone take the opportunity catch up with one another whilst enjoying delicious food by Essential Catering & Events and beverages provided and served by Liquid Infusion.

CMI Hino Melbourne General Manager, Marta Gawlik, began the evening’s formalities by welcoming guests and thanking them for attending our second annual Apprentice Welcome and Appreciation Evening.

“It’s fantastic to see so many of you here tonight as we come together to celebrate the energy, talent and dedication of our Apprentices, the future of our industry. This evening is about recognising the hard work, the growth and the incredible journey our Apprentices have embarked on with us,” said Marta.

Marta then took the opportunity to introduce and welcome Ross Greig, CMV Group Executive Director, to the stage to share some inspiring words of encouragement with the Apprentices and our guests.

“Each of you graduating tonight should be immensely proud of yourselves, for what you’ve achieved getting to this point,” said Ross.

Ross also spoke about the importance of recognising the Apprenticeship milestones being celebrated tonight, as well as emphasising the CMV Group Values, specifically ‘Safety First’.

It was a privilege to hear from Ross who is a great supporter of our apprentice program and a passionate advocate for the growth and development of the CMI Hino Melbourne team.

Thank you and well done for your commitment to your Apprenticeship. We look forward to supporting you and watching you develop and grow in your role within CMI Hino,” concluded Ross.

Following Ross, Marta then welcomed Campbellfield Service Manager, Adam Blain, Derrimut Service Manager, Trevor Sant and Parts Manager, Scott Thomas, onto the stage to help facilitate the presentations.

“These gentlemen represent the strength, experience and mentorship that help shape our apprentices into confident professionals”, shared Marta.

To begin, we welcomed our first year apprentice to the stage to collect his certificate and have their photo taken.

Once the presentations finished, Marta shared a final message of encouragement with our Apprentices, “We’re proud of what you’ve achieved so far and even more excited about what’s ahead. Keep learning, keep growing and keep pushing boundaries,” said Marta.

As the evening continued, our apprentices enjoyed the chance to connect with their colleagues, enjoy some more delicious food and drink, and unwind outside of the workshop.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate our outstanding apprentices, along with their dedicated mentors and managers. We’re excited to follow the continued growth of our apprentices as they progress on their career journeys.

About the CMI Hino Apprenticeship Programme.

The CMI Hino Melbourne apprenticeship program combines specialised practical on the job training with theory-based learning, delivered by industry leading professionals at our dealership and workshops located at Derrimut and Campbellfield.

Throughout their training, apprentices are taught specific tasks and are mentored while learning practical skills across various departments including, service and safety inspections, auto electrical and engineering for mechanical apprentices, while parts apprentices embark on warehouse inventory and an introduction to parts interpretation.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship program, our highly skilled Hino technicians will be encouraged to embark on a long-term career with CMI Hino Melbourne, and the wider CMV Group, where the opportunity of career progression across the business is endless.
